Agentic legal research grounded in Westlaw and Practical Law content. Academic access is law-school-only.
What it is good at
Research answers are grounded in Westlaw's editorial apparatus — headnotes, KeyCite — so citations are traceable to real authority far more reliably than a general chatbot. Deep Research performs multi-step agentic research that plans and decomposes a question, and Practical Law adds annotated model documents.
Use it for
Running the same question through Westlaw Advantage and a general chatbot, then KeyCiting every authority both produced and charting which tool fabricated what. Generating a research memo and requiring a verification appendix where every cited case is pulled and pin-cited by hand. Using Practical Law standard documents as the answer key against an AI-drafted discovery request.
Where it falls short
Hallucination is documented, not hypothetical: the Stanford RegLab study measured Westlaw's AI-Assisted Research hallucinating on roughly a third of queries despite marketing implying otherwise. The January 2026 academic rollout went to 200+ ABA-accredited law schools and is silent on paralegal programs — a community college generally cannot get this the way a JD program can. Note the product was renamed from Westlaw Precision in January 2026, so older syllabi use a dead name.
