What it is good at

The grammar engine handles article and preposition errors that trip up multilingual writers more gracefully than general chatbots. Authorship records writing process — typed, pasted, or AI-generated — inside Docs and Word, which supports a process-evidence approach to integrity rather than a detection approach.

Use it for

Having ESL students run a draft and then explain in their own words why each article or preposition change was suggested, turning corrections into a grammar lesson. Letting students submit an Authorship report alongside an essay so the conversation is about process rather than accusation.

Where it falls short

Authorship is not proof and Grammarly does not claim it is — its own documentation says it may not capture every case, misses fast keystrokes and unmonitored sources, and becomes unreliable past 20 pages. Suggestions push all prose toward the same flat register, which harms students developing a voice and can strip dialect features from multilingual writing. The built-in AI-detection score carries every reliability problem described in the detector entries; do not grade on it.
