Practice-management AI plus cited legal research, in the platform most small US firms run on.
What it is good at
Clio is what a large share of small US firms actually use and is recognized by all 50 state bars, so time spent teaching it transfers directly to employment — arguably more career-relevant for a paralegal graduate than deep Westlaw fluency. Vincent returns answers with full citations into vLex's case law, statute and docket corpus and shows the authorities it relied on.
Use it for
Running a simulated matter end to end — intake, conflict check, matter opening, time entry, document generation — and critiquing where automation would create ethics exposure if unsupervised. Building a research memo with Vincent, then pulling and verifying every cited authority. A billing-ethics exercise reviewing generated time entries against the underlying work product.
Where it falls short
Both carry hallucination risk and Vincent provides no specific safeguard beyond showing sources, so independent verification is still required. Neither vLex nor Vincent publishes pricing and Clio's tiers above Starter are quote-only, so total cost is hard to pin down. The Clio Academic Access Program names ABA-accredited law schools and does not address paralegal programs — not denied, just unaddressed, so it is worth an email.
